Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, December 01, 2008.
A strong area of low pressure over northeastern Michigan will continue to generate wintry weather across the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and the Northeast on Monday. The system will produce significant amounts of lake-effect snow showers over the Great Lakes and the Northeast. Michigan, eastern Wisconsin, and northern Illinois will remain under a winter storm warning until 4PM EST Monday. Drivers traveling throughout the Great Lakes and Northeast are urged to drive with caution due to slick roads, blowing snow, and lowered visibility.
The system will also produce a mix of rain and snow showers over portions of the Southeast. Cold winds from the southwest will allow for lower temperatures and snow showers to occur across the Tennessee Valley. Meanwhile, an associated cold front will trigger scattered rain showers with isolated thunderstorms as it extends across the southern tip of Florida.
The West can expect mostly dry conditions on Monday. The Rockies will see light, diminishing snow showers throughout the afternoon. Meanwhile, moisture from an incoming storm system over the eastern Pacific will produce light scattered showers over the Pacific Northwest.
The Northeast will see temperatures in the 30s and 40s, while the Southeast will range from the 40s to 70s. The Northwest will rise into the 40s to 60s, while the Southwest will see mild temperatures in the 70s and 80s.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 3 degrees at Grayling, Mich to a high of 87 degrees at Thermal, Calif.
