Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, November 06, 2009.
Wet weather will spread across the Northwest, while the East Coast will see drier and warmer conditions.
A strong low pressure system and associated cold front will move onshore and continue tracking eastward over the Pacific Northwest and into the Northern Plains. The Pacific Northwest will see another day with scattered showers and thunderstorm development anticipated. Expect an inch of rainfall in most areas with up to 2 in areas of thunderstorm development. Cooler temperatures at higher elevations in addition to ample moisture available in this system will allow for periods of heavy snow in the Cascades on Friday. Expect snowfall accumulation ranging from 1-2 feet. The front will extend into northern California as it pushes through the region, thus, a few light showers will most likely be contained to Northern California, with overcast skies spreading over most of the West Coast. Expect cool conditions over the region with highs in the 40s and 50s in the North.
Ahead of this system, a warm front will develop and track through the Plains and into the Midwest. This system will not have ample moisture associated with it, thus, expect only a few scattered clouds over the Plains. However, this system will allow for warmer temperatures with warm flow from the South. The Central Plains will see highs in the 70s, with some areas possibly reaching into the 80s. The North will be warm and dry with highs in the 50s.
Further East, a low pressure system will finally move off shore and be replaced with a strong high pressure ridge. This will bring plenty of sunshine and warmth, but chilly nights. The Southeast will remain under frost advisories as overnight lows will dip to near freezing again on Friday.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 11 degrees at Farson, Wyo. to a high of 93 degrees at Mesa, Ariz.
