Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, November 06, 2009.
Tropical storm activity is not expected over the Western Pacific on Friday as relatively weak atmospheric flow will dominate the weather. However, moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms are anticipated over the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia as strong westward flow pushes moist conditions onshore. Expect heavy downpours with dangerous surf in these areas.
To the north, high pressure will hover over most of Asia as a ridge extends from China over the East China Sea, and into the Sea of Japan. This will bring mostly sunny skies and mild weather on Friday. However, a small trough of low pressure will develop over the South China Sea and push ample moisture over Taiwan, triggering scattered storms of moderate to heavy rainfall with possible thunderstorm development. Beijing will see mostly sunny skies with highs near 50(F)/ 10(C), while Shanghai and Hong Kong will be warmer with highs in the 70s and 80s. Onshore flow may kick up a few clouds over the Korean Peninsula, but precipitation is not expected. Thus, Seoul will see patchy clouds as Tokyo will remain clear, both with highs in the mid-60s(F)/ upper teens(C).
In Australia, a low pressure system moving into the Great Australian Bight will push the dominating high pressure system eastward. Thus, onshore flow from the west will kick up wet weather over Western Australia, while onshore flow from the east will allow for light coastal showers over New South Whales. Sydney will be rainy with highs near 70(F)/ 21(C).
