Dolly is expected to lose her tropical characteristics sometime on Friday, as it continues to weaken while moving over northern Mexico and southern Texas. The storm will continue to flood southern Texas, and could possibly continue to spawn tornadoes across the state.

A front associated with a low pressure system centered over Ontario will trigger a line of potentially severe storms across the Plains on Friday. These storms will produce heavy rain and strong winds, with hail and tornadoes possible in the event of severe weather. The Northern Plains will see storms in the first part of the day while the front passes through, and then will clear out as high pressure moves in. The front will then move into the Central Plains and the Midwest, and produce storms in those regions for most of the day on Friday. Temperatures across the Plains will range in the 70s and 80s in the Northern Plains to the 90s to near 100 in the areas of the Central Plains that are ahead of the front.

A lingering front will extend from the Northeast, down into the Southeast and up to the Ohio Valley on Friday. Showers and storms are expected in New England as a result of the front, and the region can expect to see heavy rain and gusty winds due to the storms. The storms are expected to move out of the region by the end of the day. The Ohio Valley could also possibly see thunderstorms as well on Friday. The Mid-Atlantic will see mostly clear skies due to high pressure. Temperatures across the Northeast will be in the 70s and 80s, with 90s possible in parts of the Mid-Atlantic.

Afternoon showers will pop-up across the Southeast due to warm, moist air being pulled into the region by high pressure off of the East Coast. Temperatures should be in the 80s and 90s, and some areas could reach 100.

The Northwest will remain mostly clear due to high pressure, although Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming could possibly see a few scattered showers. Temperatures across the region will be in the 70s in the Pacific Northwest, and the 80s and 90s farther inland.

In the Southwest, the Four Corners will see seasonable showers and storms, while the rest of the region will remain mostly clear. Temperatures will range from the 80s to 100s, with the hottest areas reaching 110.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 30 degrees at Meacham, Ore to a high of 109 degrees at Needles, Calif.
